Today I went with my friend DK to a tournament at Incom gaming in Cheltenham. The event was for Bolt Action players. The Axis players were triumphant, unlike last time. I came fourth overall, but gained the most points for kills and was awarded the most ruthless player for which I was given a model of Adolf Hitler. Not entirely sure I want that model.

Anyway the event was a great success and Dale who organises these things did a fantastic job. There were 3 games. The first one I managed to gain a win. Graeme played a good game with his Soviets, but I managed to kill more units than him.

The middle one I drew but caused lots of casualties. Dan was another great player who really knew the rules, which was great. He was really nice with it and pointed out my mistakes very kindly. I was playing my Hungarians which I had had to paint very quickly to get them ready for the tournament. At the end of the game he asked if I had the free figure which came with the Fortress Budapest Book. I had not, and he produced one from his bag which he generously gave me.

The third one I won again against my friend Matt. He is always a lovely opponent and always plays Soviets. He was trying to stop me from exiting the board. This he successfully did, but suffered lots of casualties. Indeed he only killed my medic.

I was not going to enter my army for the coolest army as I had won it on the two previous occasions. However, Dale insisted. Very kindly, my competitors voted for my army yet again and I came away with some lovely things to add to my bases.

Everyone left with a prize, which included a minefield, flash markers, sweets and metal figures. A great day out and I can’t wait for the next one.
